HALL OF FAME
The Canadian Pony Breeders Show Hall of Fame was established in 1975 to recognize the unique contributions and positive impact individual ponies and herds have made on the Canadian pony world. From then until 1992 - show ponies, pleasure ponies, broodmares, stallions and one troop of ponies were recipients of the perpetual trophy donated by The Equestrian Pit Ltd. in memory of Karin Von Herff.
Each year, the Canadian Pony Breeders Show Committee voted on nominations received from the pony world to determine which ponies and people will be inducted. Since 1992, due to the lack of the shows there have been no inductees. With the revival of the show, now known as the Eastern Canadian Pony Breeders Show, the Hall of Fame is being revived.
Ponies/group/herd must have resided in Eastern Canada (Ontario to the Maritimes), contributed to the Canadian pony image. Ponies do not have to be deceased by the nomination deadline to be eligible for nomination to the Eastern Canadian Pony Breeders Hall of Fame.
Some past recipients and their stories can be found here: Canadian Pony Breeders Hall of Fame
Stories were taken from the old prize lists and augmented with additional information where available. Not all previous prize lists have been found, so some recipients are missing details. If you have an old prize list or know anything about the ponies please contact us – we’d love to fill in the blanks.
Applications in writing must be received by the ECPBS by May 31, 2013 and include – name of pony and/or group/herd, breeder, owner, and details on why they should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. A photo of the pony or group/herd (key representative of herd/group is fine) depicting the reasons why you feel they should be inducted should accompany the nomination.
The Hall of Fame inductee(s) will be presented on Sat, July 27/13 at the Eastern Canadian Pony Breeders Show, at the beginning of the evening performance.
