THE REVIVAL - EASTERN CANADIAN PONY BREEDERS SHOW 2013 - ?
After the last Canadian Pony Breeders Show in 1992, a group of breeders, mainly Heather Ferguson, Heather Black and Barbara Evans, tried to revive the show in a smaller and more specific format as the Pony Mosaic held at Erin Fairgrounds, Erin ON. The Pony Mosaic ran a couple of years and then lack of volunteers and funds saw the demise of this show as well.
In 2005, the open pony circuit thanks largely to the North American Sport Pony and other sport pony inspections in Ontario and the development of the Star Search Sport Pony series of qualifiers and final at the Royal Winter Fair, got a second wind and boost in popularity.
By 2010 Pony Breeders of Ontario and Pony Breeders of Canada had been started. Pony Breeders of Ontario held their first show at Beaverwood Farm, Hillsburgh ON in August 2010 with a full slate of classes - an amazing 45 ponies shown by 26 exhibitors attended. In 2011, the Northumberland Pony Show, Adanac Horse Farm, Coburg ON (29 entries, 14 exhibitors) and the Arthur Fair, Arthur ON (29 entries, 17 exhibitors) were added to the PBO slate of shows. With the demand for Open pony shows as well as some breed classes for smaller breeds it was decided that the time was right to revive the Canadian Pony Breeders Show for 2013.
After consulation with several past executive of the CPBS and the Pony Mosaic a plan was formulated. Now the hunt was on for a suitable facility.
